On December 17th, nearly 170 Fletcherites and our guests celebrated the festive season and marked the rekindling of our traditional Holiday Party, hosted by the Fletcher Alumni Association of Washington, DC. This year, we welcomed members of the Fletcher DC community and their families to a night of sophisticated fun at Napoleon Bistro & Lounge – run by our very own Mustafa Popal (F’01) and family.

For two hours, we enjoyed private access to Napoleon’s elegant two floors, complete with open bar and savory hors d'oeuvres such as Mini –Crab “Button” Cakes, Grilled Local Artisan Lamb Sausage, and Greek Spanikopita. While the music played and the champagne flowed, Fletcher alumni from a wide assortment of classes met new friends and reconnected with old ones.

Fletcher Club of DC Holiday Party 2011-Group 3For a mid-party interlude, we had brief remarks from our Honorary Hosts for the evening – Dr. Peter Ackerman (F’69) and Dr. Hans Binnendijk (F’72). We also introduced our two new liaisons from the Fletcher Office of Development and Alumni Relations – Pete Mumma, Associate Director of Alumni Relations and Stewardship, and Caroline Caldwell, Alumni Relations and Stewardship Coordinator, who brought with them some Fletcher memorabilia for the evening’s raffle.

All in all, we had a great response (we were totally sold out in just 9 days!). We wish to thank everyone who made it possible, and we look forward to doing it all over again next year!
