75th Anniversary Gala Update
The Fletcher School’s 75th Anniversary Gala will take place at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC, on October 11. Over 500 alumni and friends are registered to attend. The Classes of 2008, 2005, and 2002 lead in numbers attending from each class. 2004, 1999, 1997, and 1996 are right behind. Click here to see a list of who is attending.

Library of Congress
Besides Fletcher alumni, several faculty members will be in attendance. They include Eileen Babbitt, Daniel Drezner, John Hammock, William Martel, Antonia Handler Chayes, John Curtis Perry, Kim Wilson and Karen Jacobsen.
Established in 1800, the Library of Congress is the United States’ oldest federal cultural institution and the largest library in the world. Attendees will have a unique opportunity to tour permanent and special exhibits with expert docents. To learn more about the venue, please visit the Library of Congress website.
This special night will feature the presentation of the Dean’s Medal and the Fletcher Alumni Association of Washington, DC, Young Alumni Award.
Initiated by Dean Ted Eliot in 1983, the Dean’s Medal recognizes individuals at the Fletcher Dean’s discretion. The wording on the medal, which appears in Latin, states “For loyalty and distinguished service.” Past recipients include Dr. Armand Hammer, Betsy Parker Powell, F62 and Shirin Ebadi.
The Fletcher Young Alumni Award recognizes an individual under 40 years of age from the Fletcher Alumni community whose outstanding achievement, leadership, or endeavors are worthy of recognition and have brought honor to The Fletcher School.
Musical entertainment will be provided by The Bob Hardwick Sound. A former banker, Bob Hardwick has been performing professionally since 1990, and his orchestra was designated “Best of the Best” by Town and Country Magazine. Averaging 200 engagements a year in the US and abroad, The Bob Hardwick Sound has been heard at five Presidential Inaugurals, among other high-level galas and events.
The Gala is one of the largest in a series of events planned to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of The Fletcher School, beginning in the winter of 2007 and culminating with Commencement in May 2009.
