A Nonviolent Revolution in Egypt? July 29th Happy Hour(s) and Discussion With Sherif Mansour (GMAP)
On Tuesday, July 29th from 6:00-8:00, come hear Fletcher GMAPer, Sherif Mansour, discuss current events inside Egypt, including the use of "Facebook" to promote nonviolent civic mobilization, and the implications for the Middle East. Event will be held at Mio Restaurant at 1100 Vermont Ave., NW (www.miorestaurant.com). Happy hour drink prices will apply from 6:00-7:00; non-happy hour prices from 7:00-8:00.
Mio is giving us a semi-private room for Sherif's discussion free of charge; they are only requesting that we make a minimum purchase of hors d'oeuvres. Requested donation is $10 (more if you plan to eat more). No RSVP necessary. Informal discussion from 6:00-6:30; talk and discussion with Sherif from 6:30-8:00. See you on July 29th at Mio!
Sherif Mansour (GMAP '08) is the Middle East Program Officer at Freedom House, a DC-based NGO committed to supporting the spread of democracy and basic freedoms around the world. Previous to his work with Freedom House, Sherif was a fellow at the Center for the Study of Islam and Democracy (CSID) and an officer at the Ibn Khaldun Center for Development Studies in Cairo, Egypt.
