BAE Systems, Inc. -- Employment Opportunity

BAE Systems, Inc. is looking for qualified Fletcher MALD and PhD/ABD candidates to join its new Human Terrain System program. HTS is designed to improve the collection, interpretation and understanding, operational application and sharing of local cultural knowledge related to insurgent populations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Members of the Human Terrain Teams (HTT) will serve as cultural advisors, debriefing with military patrols in the region. The HTT members will then be expected to synthesize and analyze data relevant to key regional personalities, social structures, links between clans and families, economic issues, public communications and agricultural production.

BAE is looking to populate the HTT units with Team Leads (PhD/ABD) and Regional or Human Terrain Analysts (MALD). All three positions require initial training at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas. Team members will either remain at Fort Leavenworth to provide a stateside support network of regional experts, while others will deploy to Iraq or Afghanistan to provide support to Army Brigade Combat Teams on the ground.

Successful candidates will possess a strong IR/political science background with a focus on the MENA region, and ideally Iraq or Afghanistan. Experience living/working in the region or in these specific countries is a plus, as is some knowledge of Arabic, Farsi or Pashto. Open to U.S. citizens able to pass the security clearance process or who already possess a clearance.
