Summer Picnic Draws More than 100 Fletcherites
Martha Blaxall the musicianMartha Blaxall's Davidsonville, Maryland farm provided a delightful setting for the 2007 Fletcher Summer Picnic. This year's picnic drew a record crowd of more than 100 attendees, including Fletcherites of all ages, their friends and family members.
Guests enjoyed the sounds of Crabgrass, a bluegrass band whose banjo player is Blaxall's spouse, Joe Dickey as alumni's children frolicked in a sunroom turned playpen. Blaxall displayed her own musical talent while guests dined on pulled pork, baked beans and key lime pies made from scratch by Jeremy Harrington.
Guests were treated to a tour of the chestnut orchard on the farm grounds and got to know each other as they shared stories of their times at Fletcher.
