Atlantic Council seeks Business Issues Program Director
A Fletcher alum in Brussels asked to share this job posting he recently saw:
Subject: Atlantic Council seeks Business Issues Program Director
I wanted to let you know that the Atlantic Council is actively seeking a director for our new Business Issues Program. This is an excellent opportunity for an entrepenurial person who is fascinated by transatlantic business and economic issues and who is determined to present them in innovative ways. As many of you know, we have long had a series of successful economic working groups (the most recent one resulted in the report, Transatlantic Leadership for a New Global Economy). The new director will build on these to develop a comprehensive program of activities and projects of real relevance to the transatlantic business and economic policy communities. A key element will be the launch of a new high-level advisory group of transatlantic economic experts. The program will also be responsible for providing cutting edge analyses of current transatlantic economic and business matters.
I've attached the job description (which is also posted at http://www.acus.org/about-employment.asp), but here are a few key qualifications. The right person will be an accomplished manager and fundraiser, but even more important, will be able to think strategically about the program, the issues it should address, and outreach to its constituency. While not an expert in every area, s/he should be able to work with the experts and then identify the key issues/dilemmas/challenges in such areas as trade and the WTO, regulatory and investment policy, financial markets and services, competition policy, and almost any other matter of importance to the transatlantic business and economic policy community. S/he must be able to deal with the very top people in the field, and also work collaboratively with other program directors at the Council. The ideal person will have experience in business, economic policy, and non-profit management.
