by Pedro Moreno

Fletcher Club Servathon participants take a breakFletcher Club Servathon participants take a breakOn May 2, a strong team of Fletcher Alumni volunteered at the Servathon 2009 with DC Cares. All morning they labored under the sun, and occasional light rain, de-weeding and mulching small trees at the Fairfax ReLeaf Park in Annandale, Virginia. by Maria Stephan (F'02 PhD'05)

Ambassador David WelchAmbassador David WelchOn April 23rd, Ambassador David Welch (F ‘77) spoke before an attentive Fletcher alumni audience at the historic DACOR-Bacon House about “Policy Challenges and Opportunities in the Middle East.” The event, hosted by the Fletcher DC Alumni Association, marked the first time that Ambassador Welch has spoken publicly about his role as US Assistant Secretary of State for Near East Affairs since leaving the government and joining Bechtel, a privately-held engineering and construction firm, as President of its Europe/Africa/Middle East/Southwest Asia region. Ambassador Welch, who received the distinction of Career Ambassador, the highest rank in the U.S. Foreign Service in June 2008, was introduced by Zaid A. Zaid (F ‘99), the chair of the Fletcher DC Alumni Association.

Associate Director - Office of Career Services, The Fletcher School

Hi, DC Fletcher Alumni!

As you may or may not know, after nine years of extraordinary service to the Fletcher school, Tamara Golden has decided it is time to change coasts. She is headed to the University of California at San Diego (UCSD) where she will be joining the career office for their school of international affairs. We will miss her greatly, but understand her strong desire to leave behind the snow (and snow shovel, ice scrapers, snow boots and parka).
