Farah Pandith speaks to the DC Fletcher Community

Farah PandithFarah PandithOn November 17, Farah Pandith, Special Representative to Muslim Communities, and Fletcher School graduate, spoke to the DC Fletcher community.

Pandith, who was born in Kashmir, India, was appointed to her current position on June 23, 2009.

From 2004 to 2007 Pandith worked at the National Security Council at the White House under Elliot Abrams covering a portfolio that included "Muslim engagement," countering violent extremism, and The Broader Middle East North Africa Initiative.


DC Fletcherites Participate in Servathon

ServathonServathonOn May 2, a strong team of Fletcher Alumni volunteered at the Servathon 2009 with DC Cares. All morning they labored under the sun, and occasional light rain, de-weeding and mulching small trees at the Fairfax ReLeaf Park in Annandale, Virginia. Those hard-working arborists from Fletcher were Marti Flacks, Anna Balogh, Zaid A. Zaid and Pedro Moreno.

Ambassador David Welch Draws a Lively Crowd at DACOR-BACON House

Ambassador David WelchAmbassador David WelchOn April 23rd, Ambassador David Welch (F ‘77) spoke before an attentive Fletcher alumni audience at the historic DACOR-Bacon House about “Policy Challenges and Opportunities in the Middle East.” The event, hosted by the Fletcher DC Alumni Association, marked the first time that Ambassador Welch has spoken publicly about his role as US Assistant Secretary of State for Near East Affairs since leaving the government and joining Bechtel, a privately-held engineering and construction firm, as President of its Europe/Africa/Middle East/Southwest Asia region. Ambassador Welch, who received the distinction of Career Ambassador, the highest rank in the U.S. Foreign Service in June 2008, was introduced by Zaid A. Zaid (F ‘99), the chair of the Fletcher DC Alumni Association.
